Education: NFS will attempt to give basic science and computer education through trainings, seminars and publications specially in rural population. Environment and conservation: NFS's major commitment to the environment is to demonstrate both ecologically and economically sustainable agriculture. It includes the research work on environmental awareness strategies with reference to pesticide management in agriculture and also provides scientific technology based information to the rural farmers and assist to implement them in agriculture. This could be achieved by interacting with the farmers and the Govt./ non Govt. organizations. Water resources management in selected village clusters in Karnataka and will be extend to different states in India. Outside these major initiatives, the NFS continues to undertake minor projects around India that combine elements of biodiversity, ecology conservation, Integrated pest management, misuse of pesticides and its adverse effects on the environment and health. Community Health: Community Health programme focus on prevention of health problems, through research and community education. NFS focuses on improved health status of the family through promotion of safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation, nutritious diet, mother and child health care and health education. The use of traditional health practices, with primary treatment using a wide range of home grown herbs and alternate methods of waste disposal is also being popularized. The foundation is also intended to involve collaborative research with Universities, research institutions and community health organizations. Science: Establishment of scientific research programs which shares strong links with environmental and biomedical health concern are some of NFS's activities. Interested areas of research are, Environmental Toxicology, Reproduction, Pathology, Developmental Biology, Plant and Animal Biotechnology. Impact: NFS would like to give a significant impact at district, state, national and International levels through multidisciplinary efforts involving natural and social sciences. Our preliminary efforts on hydrology in order to develop better management strategies for ground water resources for overall sustainable water management in tropical arid and semi-arid regions. NFS is intended to involve a number of national and international Biomedical and environmental conservation programs. |
